DEATH OF THE CHILD IN TRIBAL FAMILY DUE TO LACK OF FOOD AND CARE

A child died in a tribal family in Pathanamthitta, Kerala. There was clear evidences of negligence on the part of the tribal officers . A team of National Forum for People's Rights(NFPR) under the leadership of Kerala State General Secretary Mr.Vinod Sebastian, State Secretary Adv.Anu Abraham and Pathanamthitta District President Mr.Saji Cherian visited the family of the child. Their parents revealed the cruel and irresponsible attitude of the government officials to the tribal community. Mrs.Indiara, the mother of the child told that she was not even provided proper guidance and medicine during pregnancy. According to Mr.Sankaran, the father of the child, the officials were deaf towards the cry of the poor family even when they were admitted in the hospital. The team of National Forum for People's Rights accepted the written complaint from the parents of the child and met the tribal department officials and the officials promised not to commit mistakes in future. The NFPR team made arrangements to visit the tribal colony twice in a month and warned the officials that if any violation is found in future, the response would be severe.
